Brazil has an abundance of fish, and is ranked 25th in the world catch
league. Brazil is in the process of improving their fisheries production
by 71 percent, expanding exports by 642 per cent to create about
900,000 jobs .The potential fish production of a billion dollars in exports
makes Brazil’s fisheries one of it’s most valuable
assets,
Brazil's tuna production is set to rise with exports reaching $400
million by 2010. North coast shrimp output could rise to 8000 tons by
2010, with exports of sea caught shrimp reaching $75 million by 2010.
The fisheries plan will also seek to increase Lobster production, to
10,000 tons by 2010 with an export value of $125 million
